Hi, I'm Trudy!
After a 12-year career as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force, I found my way to 3D technical design and patternmaking. Fueled by curiosity and creativity, I have been learning, growing and providing value in this industry since 2022.
When I first discovered 3D fashion design, I quickly recognized the powerful impact a digital-first workflow can have on the garment development process. Building 3D prototypes based on technically accurate data (such as avatar size and proportions, precise patterns, and correct fabric and trims) allows for greater insight and assessment of designs before investing resources in physical samples. This approach reduces risk and enhances efficiency, making it possible to visualize and refine garments before any fabric is ever cut or time is wasted. When the physical sampling stage is reached and revisions are made, these can be applied and documented in the 3D file, saving a record of the process. Once the final garment is approved for production, the digital file can be saved into a library archive for future reference.
I'm very excited to be at the forefront of this technology and the potential it has to revolutionize the future of the fashion industry and its impact on our planet.
